Ateneo’s Summer Game Development Camps

The Department of Information Systems and Computer Science cordially invites grade school students to join the Ateneo’s Summer Game Development Camps! The purpose of these camps is to foster students’ creativity and imagination, as well as hone their technical implementation skills. This year, we are hosting two camps: one for primary school students and one for middle school students. The details of these camps are as follows:

Game Development for Primary School (Boys and girls aged 8 to 10)

Inclusive dates: May 21 to 25, 2007 (Monday to Friday)
Time: 8:00 to 11:00
Venue: Ateneo De Manila Grade School
Facilitator: Ma. Mercedes T. Rodrigo, Ph.D.
Workshop fee: P150.00

Description: This workshop will teach participants how to develop MTVs, interactive dynamic presentations and games using a workbench called Scratch. Scratch was developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is available free of charge.

Game Development for Middle School (Boys and girls aged 10 to 12)

Inclusive dates: May 28 to June 1, 2007 (Monday to Friday)
Time: 8:00 to 11:00
Venue: Ateneo De Manila Grade School
Facilitator: Ma. Mercedes T. Rodrigo, Ph.D. and Jessica O. Sugay
Workshop fee: P150.00

Description: Participants in this workshop will develop their own dungeons-and-dragons-type game with Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition as a platform. They will design their own quests, create storylines, write dialogues, craft challenges, and build an immersive, engaging game environment using the Neverwinter Nights toolkit. 

To join, please ask your students to fill out the application form. Please fax the completed form to 426-6071. Participants will be asked to pay their application fees on the first days of the workshops. The deadline for submission of application forms is April 30, 2007, 5:00 pm.
